FERA Conference

One of the cornerstones of association’s activities is the annual FERA conference that assembles researchers, postgraduates and other professionals in education every year.

The first conference was held in 1979. The conference is organised in co-operation with the faculties and departments of education in various Finnish universities. The two-day conference is preceded by a pre-conference day. The conferences attract as many as 500–700 participants. The awards for the Master’s Thesis of the Year and the Doctoral Dissertation of the Year are granted at the conference.

In addition to the annual conference, the Finnish Educational Research Association and the Special Interest Groups are involved in arranging various other seminars and conferences.

FERA Conference 2027 in Joensuu, 25-26 November 2027

The FERA Conference 2027 will be hosted by the University of Eastern Finland in Joensuu, Finland.

The conference is jointly organized by the School of Educational Sciences and Psychology and the School of Applied Educational Science and Teacher Education.
